Bathroom Redo

Brittany and I have been wanting to do this for quite awhile. But first, I had to find a shower curtain that really caught my eye and that I could live with for awhile. Then came the agony of trying to find just the right color of paint(s) for the walls. Even after purchasing them, once they got on the wall, it wasn't right. But the wonderful girl at Home Depot spent over an hour with me getting it just right. She was great and actually thanked me for giving her something worthwhile to do! That's my kind of sales girl! We started taping off last week. Then came all the trimming. That takes up most of the time right there!. Brittany painted the first coat of the ceiling for me, but alas, it needed another coat. After that, we had to put things on hold for a couple of days because we had Hunter and he had a bad cold. I didn't want to give him fumes to sniff too on top of that. After several purchases from different stores for the accessories, etc. I think we're almost there. Still need to get a garbage can and we're going to put hardware on the cabinets too. And wouldn't you know, Fred Meyer has them on sale this week! Perfect! I also need to touch up where the paint came off with the tape. (I hate that). But, we are so pleased with how it came together. I couldn't get a true color when I took these pictures. The one wall is a medium-deep blue and all the other walls are a tan color. Looks more gold in the picture, but it's not. Plus, it was hard getting a decent picture of anything when the bathroom is so small. You'll just have to come by and see for yourself!

So, until we can get a new cabinet, countertop, sink and faucet, and tub-surround, this will do just fine!

Spring Bloomin'

Ahhh, Spring! Today, was a perfect day to be outside. So, while Lamar was at work, and Brittany was at my mom's mowing and trimming her yard, I had the pleasure of mowing our two acres. Now, I really don't mind it. It gives me time to think and relax (it's a riding mower). I even got another flower bed recut. Even our cats, Meeko and Caz enjoyed the warm sun and always kept close by to keep me company. And after it was all done, I had to grab my camera to share the spring color popping up. Most of these flowers are really tiny, but they are big in my book!

Thursday At Nana & Papa's

Microphone

Yesterday while we had the kids, we were outside enjoying the last hour of sunshine when Rile' started telling us that she wanted to sing in the microphone. Lamar and I looked at each other, saying, "what microphone...we don't have a play microphone". She started walking toward the other side of the house and promptly stepped up to her microphone and sang her little heart out. There it was all the time, and we didn't even know it! (In reality, it is a reflector stick that we have poked into the ground on the edge of our cement slab beside our garage.) It is just a guide for us not to park off the edge at night when it's hard to see. I like her way of using it much better. And she put on a great concert for her Nana and Papa!

Pizza Anyone?!

OK...today, Brittany got the bright idea of making pizza (with a dough mix). We usually get Papa Murphy's, so this was a big deal. I did have a couple of boxes of pizza dough mix and it sounded non-threatening enough to me. So, Brittany starts mixing up one box and we collectively decide that we need two. No big deal. She mixes up a second box. In the meantime, Lamar comes into the picture. I don't know what happened...the next thing I know, Brittany is reading directions and Lamar has the pizza dough in his hands and is trying to spread it on the board...trouble is, it needs to go into the oven first to raise a little bit. So, it didn't work very well, as you can see...it was a mess. Memories that we'll cherish forever, I'm sure!

Lost And Found

Last week Brittany bought a pair of flip-flops with a huge faux-diamond on each one. She bought these for her special nights out (dances, etc). So, a few days after, we were taking care of Rile' and Hunter and had a great day. I started my day with the kids around 1:00. Brittany doesn't get home from school until 3:30. Somewhere in that amount of time, Rile' went into Brittany's bedroom and found her new "special shoes". Next thing I know, Brittany comes out of her bedroom with a flip flop that isn't so special anymore. The "sparkly" as Rile' calls it is....unexplainably missing. Next scene...all eyes are on Rile' and we politely ask, "Rile'...have you seen Auntie Boo's sparkly from her new shoes? Rile: Auntie Boo has new sparklies on shoes!! Me: One is missing! Oh no! Where could it have gone? Rile': Goes to Brittany's bedroom, grabs her new flip flops..."Here they are!"
Me: Uh, oh, one of the sparklies is gone! Do you know where it is? Rile: Looks at me...looks at Brittany...and she does what every 2-year old would do...she goes to play! I love it!! (This is the condensed version!)
Well, we looked on and off for it all day, but couldn't find it. Last night, it mysteriously appeared on the floor behind the computer chair. Yay! So I sent this picture to Rile'. Thought I'd share it with you too. It's just a goofy picture.
