Happy Birthday Baby Sis!

Yesterday was my sister, Lori's 46th birthday. We went over to their house last night to celebrate. Their daughter, Stacey, surprised her by coming home from Whitworth University in Spokane just for the weekend. My other neice, Rena', who also lives in Spokane, wanted to come visit, so they arranged it to come for my sister's birthday and surprise her. Boy, was she surprised!

She also surprised her by bringing home a puppy. They've been looking for a new puppy and Lori's husband, Jason, found her on the internet. It worked out that Stacey and Rena' picked her up in Spokane and brought her home. My nephew, Jason, and Jayda are new best friends already! She's a cutie, for sure!

Before and After....SO FAR!

Well, I found some "before" pictures of the family room. They weren't the ones I wanted, but they will do. You get the idea. You'll probably need to click on the collage to really see it.

We aren't done decorating yet either. Let me tell you what we're thinking. In the top picture, we're going to get a large black mirror for above the couch on the red wall. The idea is to bounce the light that comes from the only window in the room (the patio door). I also need to figure out what to put on the back wall and what to do with all the grandkids' toys in the back left corner next to the computer desk. I think I'd like to get a little wood table and chair set and some kind of storage for the toys. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

In the center-before picture, the small green cabinet is in the process of being painted. I also would like to do something different for the top of the entertainment center. What is on top there in the before picture is not what we had there before. There were some dried flowers in a basket, some books and I believe a wooden crate with pinecones inside. Also had a quilt draped over the side. Very country and dated. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

In the bottom picture, I need to fill the bottom shelf of the small bookcase. I also have some framed pictures to put on top of the shelf. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

So, there you have it so far. We're really happy with how it's coming together and have enjoyed the warm colors. Thanks for coming along in our remodeling journey!
Any comments would be greatly appreciated! :-)

Disappearing Act

I have had requests for some before and after pictures of the family room. But, I am trying to find my "before pictures"...they've disappeared...they must be hiding in the same place as the curtain rod hardware! Again, how does this happen?!!!
I'll keep looking and hopefully will have them for you soon!

Monday with our Grandkids

This afternoon, we picked up Rile' and Hunter for an afternoon at our house. It was a lot of fun, as usual. They kept us hoppin'! Although, they both have colds. Hunter is getting over it and Rile' is just beginning, so she was extra sensitive. But, they kept us laughing all afternoon. You just never know what's coming next! They haven't been over since we've been working on our family room. The first thing Rile' did was point and say, "You have a red wall!" I'm not too sure if she liked it or not, by the expression on her little face!

Rile' enjoyed playing with her dolls...

Hunter really enjoys his spaghetti!
