Then, we put the mortar down.
Then, we started laying down the tile. Made me really nervous. But, we're halfway there.
Next, we wait for the mortar to set...an additional 24-36 hours. Oh wait, we did something wrong. I won't go into details, but we ended up remedying it by adding a border around our original tile. Thank you, thank you, thank you to Lorraine and Dean Marsh for letting us borrow their brand new tile saw to do the cutting we needed. You're getting a dinner out with the Friesens!
Grouting is next. Then we wait again for the grout to cure before we seal it all up and call it good. Whew!

Be careful. Tiling is addictive (especially with really big tiles). I love doing it. My husband and I did a whole house (about 1200 sq feet) for our aunt in Africa. There were moments, but for the most part, it was a lot of fun.

ReplyDeleteThe tile job looks great! Now you will want to do more. You can come watch over Daniel and me as we do my kitchen counters. Scary!
