Going, going, gone!

The last few days, we have been working outside getting things spruced up. One of the projects that we're working on is removing a couple of big mugho pine shrubs out of our flower beds in the front yard.

First, we wacked it down by hand one branch at a time.

Then, we thought we'd try to see if we could move them out by hooking it up to our small Ford Ranger. I know...wishful thinking, but hay, we had to try.

Well, that didn't work! It didn't even budge. So, as we were digging somemore around the stumps to try to ease the job, we thought of how we could borrow a larger truck from a friend. Just as we were trying to figure out who that may be, our next door neighbor drove by, saw what we were trying to do and said, "You know, Devon has a winch on his jeep and he would LOVE to get that out for you...and it probably would take about 15 seconds...no, really!" We looked at each other and said, OK!!!!!

And they were right...Devon pulled out two bushes and a small tree that was growing from underneath our old chicken coop taking a total of about one minute! It was fantastic!! Thank you, Devon and Melinda Berns!!! You saved us hours of hard labor!!

Brother & Sister

Slide Time

We've got to get some kind of play structure for the kids. This Little Tikes cube/slide isn't going to do it much longer! But, for now...Rile' still loves it, so we'll keep enjoying the laughter than comes along with it.

Good-bye to JJ

Our oldest kitty, JJ has been around for a long time. I can't even remember how old he actually is. Yesterday, we found a pile of fur along with...well, I'll just tell you that the Coyotes got him. We'll miss him. Out of our three outdoor cats, he's always been the one to keep his distance. But, he'd always make you smile. He had quite the sense of humor, I think. Quite the character.

Bathroom Redo

Brittany and I have been wanting to do this for quite awhile. But first, I had to find a shower curtain that really caught my eye and that I could live with for awhile. Then came the agony of trying to find just the right color of paint(s) for the walls. Even after purchasing them, once they got on the wall, it wasn't right. But the wonderful girl at Home Depot spent over an hour with me getting it just right. She was great and actually thanked me for giving her something worthwhile to do! That's my kind of sales girl! We started taping off last week. Then came all the trimming. That takes up most of the time right there!. Brittany painted the first coat of the ceiling for me, but alas, it needed another coat. After that, we had to put things on hold for a couple of days because we had Hunter and he had a bad cold. I didn't want to give him fumes to sniff too on top of that. After several purchases from different stores for the accessories, etc. I think we're almost there. Still need to get a garbage can and we're going to put hardware on the cabinets too. And wouldn't you know, Fred Meyer has them on sale this week! Perfect! I also need to touch up where the paint came off with the tape. (I hate that). But, we are so pleased with how it came together. I couldn't get a true color when I took these pictures. The one wall is a medium-deep blue and all the other walls are a tan color. Looks more gold in the picture, but it's not. Plus, it was hard getting a decent picture of anything when the bathroom is so small. You'll just have to come by and see for yourself!

So, until we can get a new cabinet, countertop, sink and faucet, and tub-surround, this will do just fine!

Spring Bloomin'

Ahhh, Spring! Today, was a perfect day to be outside. So, while Lamar was at work, and Brittany was at my mom's mowing and trimming her yard, I had the pleasure of mowing our two acres. Now, I really don't mind it. It gives me time to think and relax (it's a riding mower). I even got another flower bed recut. Even our cats, Meeko and Caz enjoyed the warm sun and always kept close by to keep me company. And after it was all done, I had to grab my camera to share the spring color popping up. Most of these flowers are really tiny, but they are big in my book!
