Our Quick Trip to DC

Mom and I flew to DC on March 1st and came back on the 7th. We had a great trip.
It wasn't just the surprise for Tante Dorle and Uncle Steve, but also just being able to visit a little with my cousins. We stayed with my cousin, Tom and his family on both ends of the trip. They treated us like royalty and we enjoyed getting to know the family, if just a little bit.

Since we had an extra day between the time we got there and the day of the big party, Tom and Marci asked if we would like to see DC. Mom and dad had always wanted to go, but never made it, so this was quite a treat for her and me too.

Tom arranged a staff-led private tour of the Capital Bldg. Mom couldn't believe how beautiful everything was inside.

Of course, this was a quick trip (1/2 day) and you can spend weeks in DC and not see everything! But, some of the other highlights of the afternoon were: Lincoln Memorial, Arlington, Iwojima Memorial, and the new Air Force Memorial.

  1. I'm so glad you had good weather and beautiful blue skys. That's what we're praying for when we go visit Jessi at Easter. Of course she had 3" of snow last week! Hope it's got it out of it's system and will be more spring-like when we get there.
